We are Jeannine, Michael, Emma 4 years old, and Ben 1 year old. We will soon be living in Upper Austria to provide better medical care for Ben and to offer him a suitable kindergarten place according to his needs. We are very fortunate to have our entire family behind us and to be actively involved in our association together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Jeannine, and I am an ambassador for Lasst uns MDS heilen - DupMECP2. It is important to show that the association exists and thus enable our children to have an unrestricted future. I want to support families and show them that this journey with MECP2 duplication syndrome is not an obstacle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life is incredibly colourful and wonderful. Together, we can achieve more than individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Ben was born in June 2022, everything seemed normal, but after a few months, it became clear that he was not developing correctly. With every infection, his acquired developmental milestones were lost. He suffered from constant pneumonias, aspiration, and required constant oxygen supply in the hospital, as well as antibiotics. His poor health condition worried us greatly and directed our entire lives. We spent months in the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctors in M\u00f6dling were also very concerned and ordered a genetic test. In April 2023, we received the diagnosis, which was a big shock but also an explanation of what Ben had. Then it was time to rearrange and organize our lives and process so much information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contact with others affected by the same condition, especially David and Ana, has helped me find a way to cope with the diagnosis. A big thank you for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Ben is a bright boy who loves being in the middle of things. He enjoys playing peek-a-boo with his older sister and reading books. He is very interested in his surroundings, which is a great advantage in therapy. He communicates very clearly through his body language and has a strong will to continue developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a little ray of sunshine and a tremendous fighter. We are infinitely grateful to have him and will do everything humanly possible to support him.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
