Hoy exploraremos los Estudios de la Historia Natural (ESN) y su importancia en el contexto de las enfermedades raras, con especial atenci\u00f3n al s\u00edndrome de duplicaci\u00f3n de MECP2.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Estudios de Historia Natural<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los estudios de historia natural son un tipo de estudio observacional que sigue a lo largo del tiempo a un grupo de personas que padecen, o corren el riesgo de padecer, una enfermedad espec\u00edfica. El objetivo de estos estudios es identificar variables demogr\u00e1ficas, gen\u00e9ticas, ambientales y de otro tipo que se correlacionen con la enfermedad y sus resultados. En el contexto de las enfermedades raras, los estudios de historia natural son especialmente importantes. Estas enfermedades suelen presentar una gran variabilidad en cuanto a s\u00edntomas, evoluci\u00f3n y resultados. Al estudiar el \"curso natural\" de estas enfermedades, sin la administraci\u00f3n de un f\u00e1rmaco, los investigadores pueden obtener informaci\u00f3n valiosa sobre c\u00f3mo se desarrollan y progresan con el tiempo.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Estudio de la historia natural en el contexto del s\u00edndrome de duplicaci\u00f3n MECP2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El 3 de octubre se puso en marcha una ENS para el s\u00edndrome de duplicaci\u00f3n MECP2, en la que est\u00e1 previsto inscribir a 40 participantes en EE.UU. exclusivamente durante 2 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El estudio se titula \"A Prospective and Retrospective Observational\/Non-interventional Study to Characterize Biomarkers and Disease Progression in Patients with MECP2 Duplication Syndrome\" (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06014541).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El objetivo de este estudio es recopilar biomarcadores de fluidos (LCR - l\u00edquido cefalorraqu\u00eddeo y sangre), evaluaciones electrofisiol\u00f3gicas (electroencefalograma [EEG], potenciales evocados [PE] pupilometr\u00eda), evaluaciones cl\u00ednicas y medidas de resultados informadas por los cuidadores con s\u00edndrome de duplicaci\u00f3n MECP2 (MDS) que puedan someterse a anestesia general o sedaci\u00f3n consciente. La duraci\u00f3n del estudio para cada participante ser\u00e1 de aproximadamente 110 semanas. Es importante se\u00f1alar que los participantes en este estudio tambi\u00e9n pueden participar en un posible estudio de intervenci\u00f3n que se solapar\u00eda con el actual NHS.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El objetivo principal de este estudio es comprender mejor la historia natural del s\u00edndrome de duplicaci\u00f3n de MECP2 e identificar posibles biomarcadores que puedan utilizarse en el desarrollo de terapias para los SMD. Mediante la recopilaci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n sobre las caracter\u00edsticas cl\u00ednicas, la evoluci\u00f3n y los factores gen\u00e9ticos de esta enfermedad, los investigadores esperan obtener informaci\u00f3n que ayude a desarrollar nuevos tratamientos e intervenciones.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Estudio de la evoluci\u00f3n natural y estudio de intervenci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mientras que los estudios de historia natural observan y registran la progresi\u00f3n de una enfermedad sin intervenir, los estudios de intervenci\u00f3n son diferentes. En un estudio de intervenci\u00f3n, los participantes reciben intervenciones espec\u00edficas seg\u00fan un protocolo de investigaci\u00f3n creado por los investigadores. Estas intervenciones pueden ser productos m\u00e9dicos, como f\u00e1rmacos o dispositivos, procedimientos o cambios en el comportamiento de los participantes, como la dieta.
