Meet our new team members

At the end of 2024, we welcomed two new members to the team: Klaus Salentin from Germany, living in Thailand, and Bruna Silva from Portugal. Klaus and Bruna are working with us on various projects to promote and raise awareness of MECP2 gene duplication syndrome.

We invite you to get to know them through their presentation:

Bruna Silva, Portugal

Hi, my name is Bruna Silva and I'm in charge of communications at DupMECP2. I'm mainly in charge of social media posts, but I also help out with all communication-related issues, so if you send us a message, you might get the chance to talk to me! After studying journalism and media in London, I spent my time travelling around Europe working on voluntary projects as an English teacher. I now live in my native Portugal.
Working with DupMECP2 and developing materials to raise awareness of the syndrome gives me the opportunity to continue developing work that has an impact on the world. I'm very proud to be part of such a great organisation that focuses on helping children around the world and informing families.

Klaus Salentin, Thailand

As Project Manager at DupMECP2, I focus on developing a strategy to carry out our missions, fundraising and advocacy. My work involves finding funding opportunities, establishing partnerships and running campaigns to raise awareness of MECP2 gene duplication syndrome. With a background in project management and patient support, I have worked extensively in the field of rare diseases and clinical trials. My experience includes recruiting patients for rare disease trials, building relationships with healthcare providers and improving interactions between patients and hospitals. These roles have honed my skills in communication, collaboration and outreach strategy, all of which I now bring to my work to create real impact for the MECP2 community.
